CLAUDE (API) VISIBILITY

Does Claude name you, or a competitor?

Ask Claude the questions your buyers ask. We record which answers name you, which name someone else, and the exact pages it cited to get there, by URL and title.

The free check asks one question on Google AI Overviews and ChatGPT, which are the engines that answer without an account. Claude is asked on a signed-in scan.

Asked with web search on, so the answer is built from live sources rather than training data alone.

Claude with web search, through Anthropic’s API rather than claude.ai. Same model and same search, not the consumer app.

What the report says about Claude

  1. Cited, or not, per question

One row per buyer question. Not a score standing in for the answer, the answer itself.

  2. Who got named instead

Every competing brand, ranked by how many answers it appears in. That list is the real competitive set, and it is usually not the one you assumed.

  3. The pages it cited

By URL and title, not just the domain. A domain tells you who won; a URL tells you where to go.

  4. Whether it moved

Same questions, next month. One run is a snapshot; the number that matters is the direction.

What Claude cited, and who it named

7 buying questions from this category went to Claude through the same scanner the product runs. It answered 7 of them, returned sources on 7, and cited 31 distinct domains. Spread its citations across independent review sites rather than vendors, repeating onelittleweb.com, seranking.com and omniseo.com.

The questions it was given

  1. What is the best Semrush alternative for a solo founder?
  2. What is the best AI visibility tool?
  3. What is the best AI Overview tracker?
  4. Which tool tracks whether ChatGPT mentions my brand?
  5. What is the cheapest SEO tool that also tracks AI visibility?
  6. What is the best generative engine optimization tool?
  7. What are the best Peec AI alternatives?

Across the whole run 139 distinct domains were cited, and none of them was cited by more than 5 of the engines asked. Nobody owns these answers yet, which is the whole reason to watch them.

WHY NOT JUST THIS ONE

One engine is a sample, not an answer

We ran 9 buyer questions about our own category across every engine we can reach and got 62 answers back. The most-cited domain, frase.io, appeared in 6 of the 7 engines and not all of them. Our own domain was named in none. Tracking Claude alone would have told us a different story than the one that was true.

So Claude is one of 7 engines every scan asks, at no extra cost. The first 20 questions of a scan go to all of them. The full method is written out here, including how to run it by hand for nothing.

Questions people actually ask

How do I check if Claude mentions my brand?
Ask it the questions your buyers ask, not your brand name. Type the sentences someone uses when they are choosing (best X, cheapest X, which X should I use) and write down every brand and every source URL the answer names. Your brand name will return you; a buying question is the one that tells you whether you are in the running.
Why does Claude name a competitor instead of me?
Because it built the answer from pages it could read and trust, and those pages named them. The useful output is not the absence, it is the list of URLs it cited instead. Those are the pages to get into: a review roundup, a comparison post, a forum thread. Asked with web search on, so the answer is built from live sources rather than training data alone.
Is tracking Claude enough on its own?
No. In our own run of 9 questions the engines disagreed constantly, and the most-cited domain appeared in 6 of the 7 engines rather than all of them. A domain that looks dominant in one engine is often that engine's index talking. We ask all 7 for exactly that reason. The first 20 questions of a scan reach every one of them; past 20, Google AI Overviews continues alone.
How is this different from keyword rank tracking?
Rank tracking answers where you sit in a list of links. This answers whether the generated answer names you at all. They come apart: you can hold position one and go uncited in the answer printed above it.
