MICROSOFT COPILOT VISIBILITY
Does Microsoft Copilot name you, or a competitor?
Ask Microsoft Copilot the questions your buyers ask. We record which answers name you, which name someone else, and the exact pages it cited to get there, by URL and title.
The free check asks one question on Google AI Overviews and ChatGPT, which are the engines that answer without an account. Microsoft Copilot is asked on a signed-in scan.
Copilot is Bing-backed, which makes indexation the gate: a page Bing has not indexed cannot be cited here however good it is. It is the one engine where a technical fix moves the number.

What the report says about Microsoft Copilot
Cited, or not, per question
One row per buyer question. Not a score standing in for the answer, the answer itself.
Who got named instead
Every competing brand, ranked by how many answers it appears in. That list is the real competitive set, and it is usually not the one you assumed.
The pages it cited
By URL and title, not just the domain. A domain tells you who won; a URL tells you where to go.
Whether it moved
Same questions, next month. One run is a snapshot; the number that matters is the direction.
MEASURED 22 AUGUST 2026
What Microsoft Copilot cited, and who it named
7 buying questions from this category went to Microsoft Copilot through the same scanner the product runs. It answered 7 of them, returned sources on 7, and cited 28 distinct domains. Reached for aggregator sites that rarely rank in Google at all, including ai-visibility-software.com and toolchase.com.
Domains it cited most
- analyticsinsight.net
- 3 of 7
- ai-visibility-software.com
- 3 of 7
- aeovision.ai
- 2 of 7
- toolchase.com
- 2 of 7
Brands it named most
- Semrush
- 7 of 7
- Otterly
- 5 of 7
- Ahrefs
- 4 of 7
- Peec AI
- 3 of 7
The questions it was given
- What is the best Semrush alternative for a solo founder?
- What is the best AI visibility tool?
- What is the best AI Overview tracker?
- Which tool tracks whether ChatGPT mentions my brand?
- What is the cheapest SEO tool that also tracks AI visibility?
- What is the best generative engine optimization tool?
- What are the best Peec AI alternatives?
Across the whole run 139 distinct domains were cited, and none of them was cited by more than 5 of the engines asked. Nobody owns these answers yet, which is the whole reason to watch them.
WHY NOT JUST THIS ONE
One engine is a sample, not an answer
We ran 9 buyer questions about our own category across every engine we can reach and got 62 answers back. The most-cited domain, frase.io, appeared in 6 of the 7 engines and not all of them. Our own domain was named in none. Tracking Microsoft Copilot alone would have told us a different story than the one that was true.
So Microsoft Copilot is one of 7 engines every scan asks, at no extra cost. The first 20 questions of a scan go to all of them. The full method is written out here, including how to run it by hand for nothing.
The other engines we ask
Questions people actually ask
- How do I check if Microsoft Copilot mentions my brand?
- Ask it the questions your buyers ask, not your brand name. Type the sentences someone uses when they are choosing (best X, cheapest X, which X should I use) and write down every brand and every source URL the answer names. Your brand name will return you; a buying question is the one that tells you whether you are in the running.
- Why does Microsoft Copilot name a competitor instead of me?
- Because it built the answer from pages it could read and trust, and those pages named them. The useful output is not the absence, it is the list of URLs it cited instead. Those are the pages to get into: a review roundup, a comparison post, a forum thread. Copilot is Bing-backed, which makes indexation the gate: a page Bing has not indexed cannot be cited here however good it is. It is the one engine where a technical fix moves the number.
- Is tracking Microsoft Copilot enough on its own?
- No. In our own run of 9 questions the engines disagreed constantly, and the most-cited domain appeared in 6 of the 7 engines rather than all of them. A domain that looks dominant in one engine is often that engine's index talking. We ask all 7 for exactly that reason. The first 20 questions of a scan reach every one of them; past 20, Google AI Overviews continues alone.
- How is this different from keyword rank tracking?
- Rank tracking answers where you sit in a list of links. This answers whether the generated answer names you at all. They come apart: you can hold position one and go uncited in the answer printed above it.
