QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS TOOL
- Does FAQ markup still get me a rich result in Google?
- No. Google announced the change in May 2026 and stopped showing FAQ rich results in Search on 7 May 2026. The markup is still valid schema.org and Google does not penalise it, but it will not draw an expanded listing any more.
- Then why generate it at all?
- Because Search results are no longer the only reader. FAQPage markup is an explicit, machine-readable statement of which text on the page answers which question, and that is exactly the shape an AI assistant needs to quote you correctly. Other search engines and site search products still consume it too.
- Do the questions have to be on the page?
- Yes. Google's structured data guidelines require the marked-up content to be visible to the user on that same page. Marking up an answer the visitor cannot see is a spam policy violation, not a shortcut.
- Can the answer contain HTML?
- A limited set. Google's FAQPage documentation allows h1 to h6, br, ol, ul, li, a, p, div, b, strong, i and em inside an answer. Anything else is safer as plain text.
- Where does the snippet go?
- In the head of the page it describes, once. One FAQPage block per page, listing every question on that page, rather than one block per question.
- Does anything here leave my browser?
- No. This page builds the JSON in the browser. Nothing you type is sent to us, logged, or stored.
